I think there is probably upside $ in locating/rebuilding the original engine, but it's a considerable investment in time and money and still a gamble that the market is gonna stay good while all that happens. Another consideration may be acquiring the original case and selling with the car and let someone else deal with it... I would not bother for a T or E but for an S it'll always be worthwhile eventually. Anyway sorry it did not go the way you wanted but I'm secretely happy for you, as I said I wish I'd failed to sell my 356s...
