They are amazing technicians. They can do some miraculous things on dents that, 30 years ago, would have resulted in a lot of expensive paint and body work. I suspect that a really good eye is a big part of the skill set.
Had a Scirocco that had hail damage and was repaired conventionally. Seemed to find a missed dimple every time that I washed it. Bought a new Subaru Forester that had hail damage and was repaired by a PDR guy and never found a dimple in two years of ownership. Also had a couple of Road America hickory nut dents on the 911 done more recently with fantastic results. Amazing to watch these guys work.
