I've a 1998 986 (Boxster) with 80k miles. It was garaged during the pandemic and didn't come back to life very well (cranked but wouldn't start). I suspected the fuel system as the fuel tank level was inconsistent.

Tried the easy things first:

- Fuse (C4) is good
- Replaced fuel pump relay
- No joy

- Drained the tank to look at the fuel pump (old, never replaced)
- Fuel level float had disintegrated
- Replaced the fuel pump and sending unit

- Put everything back together, some gas in the tank along with a moli treatment and it started on the first try

Then, I drove around the neighborhood for about 20 minutes. It started to sputter. Limped back home to take a look.

- Most likely culprit seemed to be the fuel filter (hadn't been replaced in quite a while). Replaced it.
- No joy

Put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail. No pressure at all. Listen for the fuel pump on ignition? Don't hear anything. Tried feeling it. No vibration on ignition.

Any thoughts on what's going on here?

What are the odds a new fuel pump worked for 20 minutes and then failed?

Next thoughts were to jump the relay and see if I get pressure on the rail, but barring that, I'm lost where to go next.

Many thanks for your suggestions,

Did you get a chance to jumper some power to the pump?
