I did it with the engine in. I removed the air blower and brackets in that area and using a mirror it wasn't too bad. A friend with a 1975 car did the same job and had to repeat it (for reasons I have now forgotten) and claimed to have got the job down to 20 minutes! The brackets were tricky to remove; the nuts didn't want to come undone. They hold various bits of hose. There's also one partly covering the CSV that needs to be removed. It's a good idea to put a cloth round the back in case a bolt is dropped. Good luck
