February 2017, solo back country ski trip starting where the North Cascades Highway is closed every year.

I've got to rent or borrow a snow machine for this 35 mile section of mountain road some day, I only got maybe 5 miles on skis and didn't see anything other than tracks and glorious views.

There was a good view down to Ross lake where I stopped, started getting this eerie feeling something was watching me.

Alrighty then, back to the truck.


At full pool that's Cougar Island, one of my favorite camping spots. Up until the lake reservoir refills to 1550' you can hike out to it, after that yer gonna need a boat
