What is weird?
The trucking industry here in the USA is regulated to the minute.
With POE at every state line , checkpoints all in between with readers that tell what you are, who you are and where you've been
No one gets away with anything anymore. There No such thing as two or three log books.
Buy with the airlines? One would "think" it was at least as good as that ?
Not even close
Funny, weird, right?

I know a BNSF railroad engineer who tells me that they are even more closely scrutinized than truckers. His put is that most of them will never be at the throttle of a passenger locomotive, and most railroading operations take place well away from other motor vehicle operations. In other words, they have the luxury of distance between them and the traffic you guys must navigate on a daily basis. Granted, trains haul massive quantities of often quite hazardous materials, but most accidents are more of an environmental hazard than a real threat to life.
