I watched some video made by a former F-15 pilot, now airline pilot who said fuel contamination was unlikely since each engine is fed by a different tank and no other jets had a problem at that airport that day. More interestingly, he said maybe there was one engine failure and the pilot shut down the the other engine by mistake. Speculation of course, which he acknowledged. That scenario would come out with the black box data, I would think.
