You just clearly need to get rid of the PITA JD and get a zero turn where all of this maintenance crap is a lot easier!
I guess the only downside would be if your tractor has PTO and you have various attachments other than just mowing. Don't you have a vacuum for the leaves? I don't know that would be an option on a ZT. But maintenance on them is super easy including removing the deck if you want/need (usually just easier to put it into wheelie position and slide under it)
