I have 3 motors with MFI, 2 track engines and one on a street 72 2.7 with a 2.7 RS space cam, 4.5 S cams. Those are the extent of my MFI indulgence so my overall exposure to that system is limited. Anything mechanical will wear out, but my experience is that those pumps are very robust and tolerance issues from wear are rare excluding a poor oiling issue or extremely high miles. I installed the 2.7 space cam and a used set of S stacks and throttles 30 years ago.
