If it’s anything like my ‘83 SC you gotta remove the whole ignition assembly and then you can mess with the electrical part. In my case it was easy to see the plastic bits that had broken and were causing the issue. It wasn’t particularly expensive or difficult to fix apart from getting the tamper resistant screws out
