^Funny about process and explanation. I was more intrigued by that than the wood bending. I knew I'd get too complicated in the response and was yearning for the K.I.S.S.
Here's the springback after several hours. The peanut canister is 4 inches across.
I think if under the gun, I'd use a microwavable canister, and then reinsert the wood wrapped around the canister back into the microwave to dry it out on the spot. This turned out okay though for an arch, especially if it got laminated with another paint stick.
