So as the swap progresses we keep finding things to fix or improve which means my mind keeps sending me images of hundred dollar bills burning. When we realized that we couldn't make the planned exhaust work I thought about just using something that was laying around the shop just so I could get the car running.
I realized I wasn't really thinking critically, worrying about costs, so I asked ChatGPT to analyze the situation.
I estimated my stock 3.0 was probably making around 140 whp. Given the costs of the 3.6 upgrade it told me I'd spent about $450/hp to get 250 whp. The WerksPerformance RSR exhaust and a performance chip would add about half of what the 3.6 added and only at $88/hp.
I think reason won over. I guess once you're in this deep why stop.
What ever happened to the $10/hp rule of thumb?
