Our house had upgraded GE Elite appliances when it was built. The microwave died and it was still under warranty. It is a built in unit, and heavy. I got it out, and took it to the repair center. A week later and I had the fun of shoving it into the spot about the oven. It lasted a few more years.
We replaced it with a new and improved GE unit that was the right size. It had a plate to make it llok like it was there in the first place. That was important for Mrs. Carrera. It has been great for many years.
At my old office we had a Amana microwave from the 1960s. Made in America quality. It worked as new. Just a mechanical timer but it warmed up a lot of lunches for the employees, and lots of cold coffee. It was bullet proof.
