^^^ Wow! I've never seen a pair of stocks like that. Those are beautiful.

Here is another one of mine that might qualify. It's the very first centerfire revolver I ever bought. Purchased within a day or two of having turned 21 years old. I actually completed the transaction sitting in the back of a Seattle Police car. The officer was a friend of another officer, who was the older brother of my hunting partner and who became my early handloading mentor.

It's another Interarms Virginian Dragoon, this one in .357 Magnum with a 7 1/2" barrel. Collectors today sometimes debate whether these were even made in that caliber. Some have even accused me of having it built up on a frame that started as another caliber. Well, I still have the fancy box it came in, with the end plate stating exactly what it is.

But that's not its real story. Its real story is that it is the gun I was not wearing when I got run over by a black bear. A buddy of mine and I, along with our two dogs, were fly fishing Stettatle Creek (not sure of the spelling), and hiking back out for the day. He suggested, since we would walk out right into a neighborhood of a small Seattle City Light company town at the base of a dam on Ross Lake, that maybe I should take it off my hip and put it in my backpack. So I did. Not five minutes later, with him in front of me on the trail, he started yelling "b-b-b-b-BEAR!!!". There was one chasing our dogs back up the trail towards us. He had apparently been rummaging the garbage cans in town, and our dogs had run ahead of us.

I knelt down, throwing my backpack on the ground, and started digging for my revolver. The zipper stuck. Un freaking believable. I'm kneeling in the trail, frantically yanking on it, when the bear arrived. Well, he was as confused and scared as we were, took one look around, and headed for the shortest route outta there. Right over the top of me, knocking me flat on my back.

So, as soon as he was out of sight, the zipper opened with ease. Of course. In retrospect, I think we were all lucky it got stuck that day. Anyway, here's the gun:
