I’m leaning towards trying the new door skin approach. Porsche Classic may have the most accurate replacement skin. Have you found the curvature of new door skins matches both fenders well enough or do they require tweaking? I’ve heard that gradual curvatures are hardest to modify.
There’s no accident damage on this car. I’m thinking it may be best to leave the old skin as is until the fender & sill gaps are set. At this point I could remove the old skin by grinding, de-rust & try my hand at some forming. It may be possible to farm out the skinning if I get into trouble. I’m guessing that they would need the whole shell to really get it right. The quality of fit on a 911 is part of the cars’ appeal, it’s important to do the metal work properly.
