After 2 tours in Vietnam, I returned to my parent's home in Biloxi, Mississippi with my long-stored 1967 Mustang, manual shift 289. Growing up and learning to drive Volkswagens, and having saved some money, I was eager to buy something sportier. Porsche was always my dream car, so I started searching along the Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Pensacola, Florida. Bingo! The Pensacola Porsche-Audi dealer had a new 1970 911E in Irish Green. They were ready to deal. After negotiation, they took my Mustang in for a trade, and I drove my new Porsche home to Biloxi. What a thrill! This beautiful machine was beyond all my expectations. I loved that Porsche so much I owned it for 38 years, before sadly parting with it and acquiring a newer Porsche. Fortunately, that 1970 911E still exists with a Porsche enthusiast who fully restored it to OEM spec. He contacted me through a search of owners, and I was able to provide him with all 38 years of history, photographs, papers and service records. We remain in contact, and I am able to see that Porsche whenever I am in his part of California.
