Today I moved my 02 Boxster S out of the garage to wash it. I locked it on the patio and went in to check on some email. A few moments later, while I was sitting at the computer with the key/fob in my pocket, I heard the alarm horn sounding.

I ran to the Boxster and attempted to open the driver's door with the fob. No matter how many times I pressed the fob button to open the door, it would not open. I then opened it with the key and immediately switched on the ignition and started the engine. Then the alarm horn stopped sounding.

This mystery alarm horn sounding has never happened before and I always leave the car locked when out of the garage for any reason. I then returned the Boxster to the garage an did not lock it again.

Has anyone experienced this sort of mystery alarm horn before? Any explanation or suggestions for correction gratefully appreciated.
