May not be the direction you want to head, but this is the Rennline backdate kit that eliminates the glovebox and ashtray. And in my case, no radio either. (iPhone plugs into hidden amp...)
Their kit has the aluminum formed panel that eliminates all the foam pieces of the G body car. You can see how it fits around the gas lid pull.
It was a bit costly, but i've been pleased with the results. (Red basketweave came from Sonderwerks in CLT area)
