I also have a hot water heater element wired and sealed on a extension cord that i drop in to heat the water up more quickly... but that could electrocute a guy if you are not careful.  |

It does take a while on my small (6L) unit for the temp to get up where I want it....but on your larger unit....I can totally understand your improvised method of getting it up quicker - very nice!
