One of the interesting/crazy things when reading a thread about the various blades and sharpness is talk like:
Quote:
Every blade has a character, some kind of sharpness curve over multiple shaves.
Feather max sharpness is on first shave, then sharpness drops.
Persona (Solingen) starts tugging a bit, gets nicely sharp after 3 shaves, stay very sharp for 3 or 4 shaves, then slowly lose some sharpness.
Bic is kinda normal sharp on shave 1, then get super sharp around shave 2 or 3, and back to regular sharpness for 5 to 10 shaves. Bic require some attention between shave 2 and 3, e.g. not to shave sensitive area when the blade is at its maximum sharpness.
Treet platinum starts smooth and sharp, stays this way for 4 to 7 shaves and slowly decline. It's not the sharpest blade out there but it is smooth and very consistent, that's why I've purchased 300 ...

I also saw folks commenting "I can't use platinum blades because they give me razor burn" and other folks can't use other sorts of blades. And apparently, different types of safety razors perform better/worse with different sorts of blades. A lot of the folks on that forum seem to have gone over the edge on the whole shaving/razor/blade thing, but I'm sure many of them would think the same viewing some of the threads here.
