I remember that occasion, Shaun. So glad you survived and agree with your comment about making every moment count.
BTW....I fell asleep driving once when I was still in high school. I had been surfing after school and was headed home for dinner. Still living at home which at that time was a 20 minute drive from the beach. Was on US 1 - a divided 4 lane highway. I fell asleep just as I was entering the small town we lived in and drifted left into the grassy median. Hit a sign in the median which of course immediately woke me up! I think the sign was a speed limit sign or something. The pole folded into a vee shape and the sign ended up slamming down onto the hood of my car. Other than that no real damage except of course it scared the heck out of me!
Another anecdote.....one of the fellas that brought some motorcycles & parts to me from his Alabama home recently told me as long as he had his toothbrush in his mouth while driving - it would keep him awake. Never heard that one before.
When I went down to Ft Lauderdale back in March to pick up one of my Interceptors, it was I-95 all the way down and back. I remember starting to feel a bit drowsy about 3/4 of the way down so put some Santana on the stereo and that really pepped me back up!
