The American Revolution - a Ken Burns documentary
This 12-part series releases Nov 16th. I'm totally looking forward to it. I watched this interview earlier today by Nicolle Wallace of Ken Burns. He is a master story teller, more than well versed in history. He brings out the motivations and emotions in his documentaries, which make them much more interesting to me. Some stuff he mentioned in here include about how Benjamin Franklin's son William was a British loyalist who was imprisoned and exiled to England, and how the 13 colonies invited Canada to join them as the 14th colony. The quote by Lincoln mentioned at 7:50 and Jefferson at 17:49 were amazing and timeless. He also stated he doesn't think history repeats itself, but it rhymes itself. And it's complicated. Simplicity doesn't cut it. He mentions that this was a difficult documentary to make, as there are no photographs, just paintings from this era. I'm hoping this can stay out of PARF, but not optimistic.
