Looking at the tech, it seems that the categories can’t merge entirely, at least not in the next few/several years.

The bright, color, high-def, wide FOV displays (Xreal etc) have to be mounted on the lens so if you want that level of display, the glasses will never be as normal-looking (like, transparent lenses) as the projected HUD type (Rokid, G1 etc) can be.

The mic, speakers, AI, camera features can merge, with battery life being the main constraint.
