Shaun, for me its simple. I have a decent 911 with 150k miles. Might need a motor tomorrow, might need one in 50k, who knows. When the cars were cheapish, you could get a motor done for 10-15k. The appreciation in value has driven the cost of a rebuild much higher, like double that now or more. Plus, if the motor broke previously, it was no biggie. Let the car sit, get to it whenever. Now that it has significant value, that's a less palatable alternative.

Yeah, I shouldn't worry about it and just enjoy the car. But it does creep in the back of your head. I liked it better when it was cheap.
