If you get it for a year your retirement pension would, as you know be based on that salary. I might anticipate your current salary & years of service might already be bouncing off the PERS max pension ceiling. I don't recall all the details of the PERS pension reform but maybe you were in before so they implemented it can't cap your pension?
My sister who was a probation officer lucked out big time by her supervisor retiring and they inserted her in an acting roll until the position was filled with her getting the higher salary. The county drug their feet on the hiring and she served about a year and a half in the position and retired at that supervisor pension rate at 50 being LEO.
