And Hamilton cooked his brakes trying to catch up, and could not stay on track. Alaonzo made up a 40+ second deficit, and was 4/10 of a second behind at the finish. Last I heard Hamilton was going to receive a time penalty for exceeding track limits too many times.
It seems astonishing that a set of carbon - carbon brakes that cost $400,000 per car can be destroyed in one race, or even in just part of a race, when pushing hard.
