There is no food paradise or wasteland once you get out there...clusters of greatness? Sure.
My advice to you is to not try and apex the food experience...there is going to be a clunker or two along the way.
The best thing I have every tasted in my life was a breakfast at 'My Jewish Mother's' in Virginia Beach...1985 or so.
Dixie is right...one of my sisters went to the College of Charleston and worked as a cocktail waitress at the Francis Marion Hotel. I filled in as a bartender over the holidays when I was home from college...after work visits to some of the better places in Charleston was incredible.
But that is just one example...btw, if you go to Miami, and you should, remember to blink.
