I have been collecting data the same way Rutager, it is very interesting.

There are a lot of race cars kicking around with the old M84 Motec EMS mounted in that area of the engine bay and they are still kicking. I don't think it's a huge concern honestly but it is less than ideal.

There are a lot of CDI units still kicking after all these decades with some percentage of failures, I take that as a good example of what the lifespan of engine bay mounted electronics are.
