Dropped the engine today - smooth and drama-free. Huge relief it’s a California car: zero corrosion anywhere. The only stubborn bit was that 36 mm oil line nut.
Been chasing an oil leak that kept getting worse - turned into a full smoke show at a stoplights. Turns out it’s the usual triangle of death. Confirmed once I saw how filthy the top of the transmission was.
Plan is to tackle everything I can while the engine’s out - not planning to do this again anytime soon.
Got Wayne’s book on hand and will be going through the full checklist.
Open to any advice or “while-you’re-in-there” suggestions from those who’ve been down this road!
The engine will be outside until everything is done. Any suggestion on keep it from the elements? garage isn't an option at the moment.
Now the photos.
