Tim. From what I can’t tell, it’s a whole system.
The rod uses spiral guides do the tip guide is underneath. This mitigates the line tangling in the guides. The rod is also VERY parabolic. You kinda hold it angled down when you are fighting a fish. You rely on torquey reels with heavy drags to lift fish. The rod mainly works the jig. The reel fights the fish. The rods and reels are lightweight because you’re lifting it up and down all day long. The rod handles are bare split grips do you can feel the bites down deep. Oh, the reels have exaggerated long handles and have huge line pickup per crank.
The lines are light. I was told to use 30lb braid. (PE 2-3 in Japanese sizing). Light lines have way less water resistance so the jigs get down deeper quickly and efficiently. In general jigs are 1oz for every foot of depth. So a 300gr jig (10oz) for 300 deep.
The jigs resemble an injured baitfish struggling to swim. You lift them up and the drift down sashaying side to side.
All this is theory for me. Just what the salesman told me
