So, once again it wouldn’t fail on me... or at least not like it was.
I went for a drive today and temps are a fair bit lower than when I was experiencing the failures before, so it is entirely possible that heat was a major cause, although I had seen failures on start up after the car sat for a few days and the garage was around 60F.
Drove around for a half hour or so and did some higher rpm bursts and never saw the constant lean on the laptop... although there was a moment when I looked down and saw the screen go off and on and then it said offline and then went back to reading normal without my intervention it did it a couple times in a row, but only that episode.
Could this be an ECU issue? It is one of my suspects, especially since I tried 2 different coils and three EDIS modules without change.
