I’ve had two awesome old school dentists retire on me, it sucks! I haven’t been for a couple of years (I know I know) because the new ones I’ve tried have all been awful.

This is exactly the problem. Fancy tools and offices are expensive, and somebody has to pay those bills. If you want something enlightening, go to different dentists and see if they recommend the same work. I had a dentist (with a new plane btw) cap two of my teeth in probably 2008, and tell me two more needed it. Not a single dentist since has told me that those teeth need caps. Shady business….
