Dooming a vehicle to scrap

I've done it after an accident. However, I've never used a vehicle as a parts car and thereby doomed it to non-existence.

The situation is I have 2 Land Rover Disco 2s that were my kids college cars. The one in the best shape had the front drive shaft let go and punch a hole in the transmission. The other one (which I like better for originality and color) likely needs a frame.

I can pull what I need of the rusty one and fix the one with gearbox problem. It's hard for me to get over the line to essentially scrap the one.

Anyone ever done this and have words of encouragement?
