I'd say get a non-salvage Toyota (first), Honda (second). Lots of risks with salvage and you're not there to deal with it. Harder to sell them later and you get less, of course. What I see you accomplishing with a salvaged car is getting something that looks like more than it's worth, but from what you're saying, your daughter will trash it, anyway.
