It was the usual, car not as described. Exterior was nice, with some good detailing it would have looked great. Interior was really rough, looked more like it had 119k instead of 19k. Very worn leather, lots of cracked/broken/missing parts, burl wood was all scratched/cracked/faded, heavy staining in the carpet. Mechanicals made me worry about getting it home, despite new tires it had a strong vibration at highway speeds, whining noise on acceleration, definitely worn out and clunking tie rods or idler link, shocks were totally shot, gas gauge was broken, brakes took a ton of pedal effort for minimal stopping (master cylinder?).

With all that said, I’m not scared of a project but I just didn’t like the car. The seller found pictures in the car showing the engine being pulled and sent to AMG for a 6.0 conversion but no actual documentation, it didn’t feel like almost 400 HP and it didn’t feel special. Every aspect of the experience was dull and numb, it didn’t do anything for me. It looks awesome on the outside but I’m thinking the R129 in general may not be for me. Similar money will buy an R230 SL63 which I have owned and loved, it’s an exponentially better car and experience.
