A tip I learned in physics class and eventually started using while driving or motorcycling especially after I hit two cars that pulled out in front of me in my first year of motorcycling:
The top of a wheel is moving at twice the speed of the vehicle so rather than look at the vehicle to see if it's moving and may pull out in front of me, I look at the top of the front wheel. If it starts to move at all, I get on the brakes.
