Glad we went to Colorado this year, it's been on my list for at least a decade.
I was not at all disappointed.
Did a CC loop starting in Denver and driving to Estes Park for access to the Rocky Mountain National Park then Grand Junction, Telluride, Mesa Verda and Canon City before catching a flight home on a Tuesday midday. No lines anywhere, smooth quick flight that got in early enough to catch a shuttle towards home 90 minutes before the one we booked.
Lots of driving, rented a 2025 VW Atlas with adaptive CC and lots of cool features.
2.0L turbocharged engine with 269 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque was a dog off the line but pulled well at 3k and above. Took it to a mining town that had a "rough' access road, happy with ground clearance and the AWD.
It got great mileage too, staying with traffic meant rolling right along.
