Whenever I’m in doubt about a stamping, I show it to my machinist. Besides seeing thousand of cases, he always points out things to me like how the surface was machined differently and its xx tenths ground down, etc. takes him all of 10 seconds to spot 3 different issues.
So many things happened to these cars and engines over the last 50 years.
