With respect to splitting the case, I have yet to pull apart a 911 engine that has run longer than a few dyno pulls that does NOT have copper showing on the intermediate shaft bearings. Not one. That alone tells me that every single one needs to come apart to replace those and at least check the oil pump, I-shaft gear, and chain sprockets for wear. And re-align the oil pump so that the "dumbbell" is nice and loose. Also, if you want me to warranty it against oil leaks, there's no way that I'm putting my name on that thing without splitting the case and getting rid of that 574 and replacing it with Three-Bond or Dirko. JMHO, YMMV
