This ^^^ if you’re confident that your carrera’s consuming a quart or more oil every 1k miles, you’re exhibiting classic symptoms of worn carrera valve guides. Had the valve guides on my ‘86 carrera replaced at 75k miles (was adding a quart every other fill up) and, at 185k miles, my oil level remains constant throughout my 3k oil change intervals.
