The committee set the precedent last season saying the looser of a conference championship game wouldn't be punished. Bama was the #1 seed in the SEC, head to head win over Georgia in Georgia, won the right to play in the SEC Championship game and yes, lost that game to a team they already beat on the road who are now the SEC Champions. SOS and SOR are factors and play into it as well.
