When preparing engine related parts like oil lines to be ready for mounting when engine will be back in car, I rembember that I wanted to replace oil inlet tube (the one replacing the oil cooler) by a lighter one.

Steel version i have since decades

So I bought a aluminum tube with aluminum nut a while ago and thought I have only to cut to the right length and make the pipe bead... But then I realized that the old one (like stock) is 28mm OD while the aluminum one is only one inch/25.4mm...

So how to solve this? I decided to make an adapter sleeve and I made it with ID 25.35mm. This way I could shrink it on the tube and it will sit tight on it.
Heated the sleeve and cooled the tube down. Then quick push the sleeve over the tube before heat transfer.

Done

compared to the old one

And a lot less weight

finally test fit
