Imagine you are sitting in the pilot's seat, you are decending to what looks like a clear patch of highway. Your forward velocity is about 60 - 70 mph. Unfortunately that is the speed of the car directly beneath you that you can't see through the floor of your aircraft. The driver of the car doesn't see you either through the roof of her vehicle.
