Santa came early... well, I guess I still had to pay him!
Michael from Standard Competition Motors who goes by “rivet” on the board and who is a Maxxecu dealer took some time to talk to me about some different options that would meet my goal of having an easy to drive and dependable starting and running 911 without breaking the bank too much.
I decided on going with the Maxxecu sport because it has sequential spark and fuel for six cylinders and can support drive by wire in the future if I should decide it is needed, but Michael is sure that with the idle tables we can use both an IAC and still be able to use MAP in tuning. This is something that my Megasquirt MS-2 didn’t offer.
He made suggestions and supplied the COPs, spark plugs, 996 fuel injectors, IAC, fuel pressure, oil pressure and temp sensors. I also got the CAN bus o2 so I can read both banks of cylinders.
He also sent me an initial tune and has answered several questions I have had. I’m very happy with his service so far. I probably won’t dig into the install until after the new year- being in MN, I have many months before the road salt is gone.
