I'm in the mechanical tensioners aren't so bad camp. And, I'm using the later 930 type, which some say are more reliable.

Tensioner reliability lies in retrofitting proper tensioner arms.
Insodently, the introduction of full width idler arms coincided with the advent of pressure fed tensioners.
