This is my SC starting cold, after several days sitting in the garage. No priming via throttle, no cranks with removed fuel pump relay, or so. Just entered and turned the key once...

After I fixed the CSV on my 1978SC the engine started too quickly for me. So now I remove the fuel pump relay, operate the starter until I get oil pressure, then replace the relay before starting the engine. I worry about wear on valve gear with the engine starting so readily.

This exact procedure I also do after the car was sitting after a several months winter break. But as well here this procedure is mainly for a better personal feeling because much of the engine oil will drain from the oil tank to the crank caseover time. With this procdeure you mainly make sure that you remove that superfluous oil from the crank case back to the oil tank and yes, you make sure that most of the bearing point are lubricated. But still they will be anyway, even if you don't do this... I guess it's far more important that you give the engine that moment after start to transport the oil to all bearing points before you slightly push the throttle for the first time to roll out it of the garage/barn...
