Phone Mount

Next project is a new phone mount for the car. Like many here I've run the Rennline phone mount that clamps onto the clock to hold my phone and have really liked it. I modded mine with a hardwired magsafe charging pad on it for my iphone and it is great for streaming music and gps navigation. My one main complaint about the Rennline mount is the height it puts the phone at. It is too low in my opinion. Not only do I have to look down more than I would like to see the phone, occasionally when my hand is going from the shift knob to the wheel or wiper stalk or vice versa, I hit the phone and knocks it off the mount. I've always wanted a similar mount that puts the phone higher up. My newfound comfort level with CAD design has allowed me to take a whack and printing out a new one.

My design is very similar to the Rennline, but modified for 3d printing in plastic and to allow it to rotate more while clearing the cowl around the gauges. The Rennline is limited by the cowl around the gauges, and the arm can;t go more counter clockwise than about 5:00. My mount can go up to about 2:30, which is as high as I want it. It uses a 30mm long 4mm x .7 allen head bolt to pinch mount on the clock body.

Here is a pic of my CAD model

I printed this out of ASA and it is holding up well so far. Here is the link to the file on Makerworld - https://makerworld.com/en/models/2162125-porsche-911-phone-mount?from=search#profileId-2344190
