That gent is pretty spot on. IME Laphroaig is (has been) extremely polarising, even amongst those that like the Islay whiskys.
The Balvenie, mentioned above, is a fabulous whisky, but its a Speyside. A different beast. It does not have the peat iodine flavours associated with Islay.
Well a few here seem to agree Laphroaig may have been given a haircut. Back from the Islay, give it a bump.
