I can't recall ever meeting a DCB outer race that couldn't be tapped out. Heating the case around the race with a MAP gas plumber's torch makes it a lot easier because the bore expands and reduces the interference of the fit.
You can also use an internal puller, such as those made by
Kukko.
Now, the inner race on some differentials can be a challenge. I have
collet-style pullers especially useful for the ones where the race is flush to the differential housing.
