Our kitchen sink was draining slow and backing up so I used my drain auger to try to clear out whatever was causing the blockage. I removed the trap in order to gain access to the pipe going into the wall to make things a bit easier. Well, the auger goes out 25ft but didn't reach the blockage. Scrolling around YouTube I discovered something called a "drain bladder" and Harbor Freight had two sizes of them so I got both. I attached the smaller bladder to the garden hose/"hose pipe" and put it into the pipe under the sink and had my wife turn on the water to the hose. The bladder swells up to form a seal and there is a tiny hole in the end that acts as a jet. The water pressure builds up and pushes against the blockage until it washes the blockage away!!! The things worked like a charm. I went outside and opened up the clean out to see water flowing like a little stream through the line to the street. I then switched out to the larger size bladder and put it into the clean out and washed it out as well just for peace of mind. The small one was $6.99 and the larger one was $9.99, a whole lot less than the cost of calling Roto-Rooter!!! I love it when things work!!!
